Unified, modern, and sustainable workspaces
BATIGERE, a major social housing provider, entrusted Tétris with a comprehensive design & build and furniture mission. The project focused on the eco-responsible refurbishment of four strategic sites: the 870 m² regional headquarters in Lyon (57 employees), the Saint-Étienne agency, and two ancillary offices. The main challenge was transforming outdated spaces into a modern, unified environment. As a social housing organization, BATIGERE placed carbon footprint and social responsibility at the heart of its priorities. The objective was clear: carry out a responsible refurbishment that embodied its values of innovation and supported its growth ambitions.
The Tétris approach: A people-centered, participatory strategy
To meet this demanding brief, Tétris deployed a strategic and collaborative approach. The key to success lay in co-design. Tétris held participatory workshops with employees to actively listen to their real needs, enabling the creation of a solution that brought teams together in flexible, open spaces while ensuring full buy-in to the project. The strategy then focused on optimizing space and enhancing comfort, laying the foundation for a high-performing work environment aligned with the company’s values.
A successful responsible refurbishment through eco-design
In just 10 months, Tétris managed the works with eco-design at the core of its approach, particularly through its Tétris Re-Use offer. This responsible refurbishment relied on practical, tangible solutions:
A circular economy approach
BATIGERE prioritized acquiring repurposed equipment. All meeting tables were sourced from reuse, achieving a 55% reduction in CO2 equivalent kilograms. Most custom furnishings were made by Atelier Emmaüs using second-life materials, avoiding 1,100 kg of CO2 emissions and generating 692 hours of social reintegration. For the new items that were unavoidable, the teams selected low-carbon products.
Reuse in construction works
Sanitary fixtures, tiling, ceramics, and even the paint undercoat were sourced from reuse. These choices avoided 3,407 kg of CO2 emissions—the equivalent of 11 years of household waste produced by an average French citizen.
High-performance technical renovation
Tétris undertook a full renovation of electrical and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems. Installing modern, eco-efficient solutions significantly improved energy consumption across spaces and reduced the overall environmental impact.
Result: Innovative, sustainable, and high-performance workspaces
The final outcome, unanimously praised by the teams, offers a setting that combines modernity and warmth. Two redesigned central patios and several terraces flood the workspace with natural light, creating a harmonious connection with the outdoors, enhanced by thoughtful greenery. Glass partitions and natural materials form a professional yet welcoming atmosphere. The organic lines of the furniture bring softness and fluidity. The design teams integrated varied usage typologies: open spaces promoting collaboration and dedicated zones for focused work. The reception area, featuring BATIGERE’s signature red, reflects the company’s identity and projects the image of a forward-looking social housing provider.
This exemplary project showcases Tétris’s expertise and proves that responsible office refurbishment can successfully combine transformation, wellbeing, and heritage preservation—perfectly embodying the company’s values of social commitment, sustainability, and innovation.
