The challenge — Comfort in the heart of a busy distribution hub
Designing an inspiring office within a functioning logistics centre is far from ordinary. Tétris faced this challenge at Auchan’s new 800 m² office in the ultra-modern distribution centre in Wilcza Góra. The biggest obstacle? Ensuring a high level of work comfort for office employees working adjacent to a bustling warehouse environment.
Adding to the complexity, the design and delivery took place simultaneously with the building’s construction. This meant every design and technical decision had to adapt dynamically to an active site, requiring close coordination with multiple stakeholders. The goal was not only to provide functionality and comfort but to craft a space that reflects Auchan’s corporate identity—warm, welcoming, and efficient—despite the industrial context.
The solution — Design that balances functionality and wellbeing
A spatial concept for collaboration and comfort
Tétris’ solution for Auchan’s office design in the logistic centre embraced clarity, comfort, and acoustic performance. The two-level office comprises 40 workstations and five meeting rooms distributed to promote collaboration and privacy.
The ground floor houses a welcoming reception area integrated with a canteen—a shared social space designed for both warehouse and office employees to meet, eat, and connect. The upper level provides flexible work areas including dedicated offices, multifunctional zones, and an executive suite designed for strategy and focus.
Acoustic excellence and warm aesthetics
Given the proximity to warehouse operations, sound management was a top priority. Architects selected high-performance materials including carpet flooring and glass partitions with acoustic insulation to minimize noise transfer. Felt acoustic panels on walls and ceilings enhance speech clarity and reduce ambient noise, creating a peaceful work atmosphere.
Natural light streams through roof skylights equipped with automated blinds that adapt to the time of day. This not only boosts productivity but enhances wellbeing.
Visually, the space moves away from the industrial look typical of logistics environments. Instead, it embraces a warm palette—muted Auchan reds and greens balanced by beiges, burgundy tones, and light wooden finishes. These elements create a welcoming environment and subtly reinforce the brand identity.
A sustainable and future-ready workplace
Sustainability was embedded into the design from the beginning. Flooring materials contain more than 53% recycled content, while acoustic panels are made of fully recyclable PET felt. Energy-efficient LED lighting systems reduce energy demand and ensure longevity. Every detail was considered to minimize the environmental footprint while supporting long-term operation.
The canteen, often seen as the beating heart of the workplace, was designed for durability and high daily use. It integrates robust materials with distinctive design touches, offering a warm atmosphere where employees can relax and reenergize.
The result — A comfortable, efficient, and sustainable office
The new Auchan office at Wilcza Góra opened in late 2025 as part of a Build-to-Suit development coordinated by JLL. Despite its location within a logistics hub, the design achieves harmony between industrial efficiency and employee wellbeing.
Tétris succeeded in transforming a technical challenge into an opportunity to showcase design innovation. The resulting environment encourages productivity, collaboration, and comfort—delivering a workplace that truly supports people and business alike.
By integrating human-centred design principles, strong acoustic protection, and sustainable materials, Tétris has created a model for future office design in logistic centres—spaces that balance the operational needs of distribution with the quality of contemporary office environments.
