Transforming an insurance company's Milan headquarters
The new Milan headquarters project for a leading global insurance company exemplifies the transformation of contemporary work environments, creating a space that embodies company values while embracing modern working practices.
In synergy with JLL's Leasing Advisory and Project & Development Services teams, Tétris developed the design, furnishing, and fit-out to create a flexible, dynamic professional office centered on the human experience, blending creativity, technical expertise, and exceptional delivery capabilities.
The new offices occupy the Time Building, a distinctive 1930s historic structure with striking architecture that has been completely renovated to meet the highest international sustainability standards, earning LEED Platinum certification for Core & Shell Development and BREEAM International In-Use Very Good certification.
The project addressed the organization's need to consolidate operations previously spread across two floors into a single level in the same building while
streamlining the distribution of space and implementing a refreshed corporate visual identity.
A concept design that elevates the work experience
The concept rests on four fundamental principles that transform how people experience work.
Workplace flexibility
Spatial flexibility and adaptability form the core of this intervention, with environments designed to evolve alongside changing organizational needs while fostering interpersonal connections. The spatial layout features adaptable environments that support various work styles — from deep focus to creative brainstorming, from formal meetings to restorative breaks — enabling dynamic workspace use while ensuring user wellbeing and productivity throughout.
The space seamlessly integrates strategically positioned functional zones: open collaborative areas featuring flexible modular workstations, quiet retreats for focused individual work, coffee stations, adaptable collaborative tables, and private phone booths to ensure confidential conversations. Meeting rooms with movable partitions incorporate advanced videoconferencing technology and offer flexible configurations ranging from intimate informal meeting spaces to executive boardrooms or education and training facilities.
Relaxation areas with breakout zones and cafeteria space encourage interactions with colleagues and idea exchange in a welcoming atmosphere. These spaces accommodate both daily breaks and corporate events through integrated wireless technology, digital booking systems, and mobile furnishings that support agile workspace utilization.
The reception area, featuring a curved counter with geometric-patterned ceramic cladding, creates a distinctive corporate entrance.
Wellbeing, comfort, and inclusivity
A holistic approach to health, safety, and wellbeing seamlessly integrates physical and psychological comfort through ergonomic furniture, adjustable sit-stand workstations, personalized lighting and climate controls, biophilic design elements, and acoustically optimized zones. Universal accessibility ensures inclusive design that accommodates diverse abilities and requirements.
Sustainability and technological innovation
Sustainability influences every design decision, incorporating recycled and recyclable materials, eco-friendly finishes, and natural elements that reduce carbon footprint while improving indoor air quality. The high-efficiency lighting system thoughtfully combines ambient suspended fixtures, accent spotlights, customizable task lighting for workstations, and maximized natural light diffusion.

Corporate identity comes alive through premium colors, materials, sophisticated lighting solutions, and iconic architectural elements that make every space a meaningful representation of organizational values.

The refreshed color palette balances warmth and professionalism with sage green, terracotta and brick, anthracite and white tones, paired with natural materials like light wood and textured finishes that add visual depth.

The project navigated complex technical and logistical challenges related to ongoing building and system adaptations during construction. Tétris's integrated approach maintained continuous quality control from concept through completion, upholding exacting standards throughout every process phase while optimizing delivery schedules. This methodology provided design flexibility during execution, enabling rapid responses to emerging requirements without compromising quality or timelines.
